The Water / Wastewater Project Coordinator works in a variety of capacities including Inspector, Operator, Operator in Charge, Overall Responsible Operator, Trainer, Troubleshooting Technician and other.

 

Position: Water / Wastewater Project Coordinator

  • Location: Various Locations
  • Permanent Full Time
  • 40-hour work week: 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday, with rotational weekend and statutory holiday on-call responsibilities (24 hours / day)

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide 24/7 technical support and first response “on-call” services to Ontario’s First Nation communities
  • Coordinate and provide on-site responses to 24/7 technical support and first response requests for emergency assistance
  • Coordinate and complete minor and major capital improvements to First Nation, Municipal and Industrial water and wastewater systems
  • Provide water/wastewater operational support in First Nation, Municipal and Industrial locations
  • Conduct Annual Performance Inspections
  • Conduct Facility/System Assessments, Optimization Studies and Training
  • Commissions new water/wastewater facilities/systems
  • Minor/major capital projects, upgrades and
  • Trainer

Prerequisites:

  • Water and wastewater treatment certification, minimum Class 2
  • 10 years of water/wastewater operating experience, preferably in small water/wastewater systems
  • Strong mechanical and electrical skills, preferably accompanied by a trade designation/certification

Attributes:

  • The position includes on-call standby responsibilities
  • The position requires extensive travel to remote (air access only) First Nation communities
  • The position is physically demanding and may require work in harsh environmental conditions (ie. cold weather)

The Water / Wastewater Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining water treatment plants and wastewater treatment facilities.

Position: Water / Wastewater Operator

  • Location: Red Lake
  • Permanent Full Time
  • 40-hour work week: 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday, with rotational weekend and statutory holiday on-call responsibilities (24 hours / day)

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Managing wastewater treatment/ sewage treatment, and sewage collection
  • Operating and monitoring equipment I.e., Pumps, valves, filters, and other machinery involved in the treatment process
  • Compliance and reporting to demonstrate compliance with environmental standards
  • Conducting water quality test, and monitoring the quality of water being treated
  • Troubleshooting any issues of equipment and perform routine maintenance tasks to keep the treatment facility operating efficiently
  • Performing other duties as required

Prerequisites:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Operator-In-Training (OIT) certificates within three to six months
  • OIT Certificates or higher are considered an asset
  • Minimum, Grade 12 or GED. Post-secondary education in a related field is considered an asset
  • Must hold and maintain a valid G driver’s license

Attributes:

  • Willing to obtain training to meet basic requirements
  • Flexible to work outside normal operating hours, as required
  • Experience in water and wastewater treatment
  • Capable of troubleshooting
  • Mechanically & electrically inclined
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable using computers / programs (Gmail, Excel, Word)
  • Willing to travel and work outdoors, as required

The Purchaser provides purchasing support to the NWI Operations and NWI clients team with respect to the delivery of equipment and chemical products throughout Ontario.

Prerequisites:

  • Post – Secondary Diploma/ Degree in Supply Chain/Purchasing or equivalent in experience
  • CSCP, CSCMP and/or equivalent is considered an asset
  • Hold a valid G Ontario Driver’s License
  • Evidence of training in the Occupational Health and Safety Act and/or Certification in Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act is considered an Asset.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Generating purchase orders based on approved requisitions, ensuring accuracy of order details, and coordinating with suppliers to confirm order receipt and delivery timelines.
  • Discuss defective or unacceptable goods and/or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users and/or vendors.
  • Monitoring stock levels, tracking inventory usage, and forecasting future requirements to prevent shortages or excess inventory.
  • Identify appropriate measures for rectification and or troubleshooting Issues.
  • Maintain manual and/or computerized procurement records.
  • Maintain records of business transactions and product inventories, report data to management and/or government agencies
  • Assist with computerized entries in ERP (i.e., assigning part numbers for inventory, invoicing and tracking inventory)
  • Ensure the upkeep of procurement-related documents, including contracts and invoices, while helping with essential reporting duties as required.
  • Cost savings initiative and strategic sourcing for high quality materials at the best price
  • Coordinate inbound logistics for materials
  • Ability to travel, as required
